Activities
Winter here in the far north isn’t just about sitting with a warm drink by the window in a cozy cabin, watching the weather. There are countless opportunities to experience nature in all its winter splendor. A tour around the Vesterålen offers fascinating discoveries, and many hiking trails in the mountains and along the coast remain accessible even in the cold season.
For fishing enthusiasts, ice fishing or sea fishing are great options – with a little planning in advance, it becomes an unforgettable experience. Animal lovers will also find joy in the winter here: eagles, seals, otters, ptarmigans, moose, reindeer, and many other animals are often spotted in their natural habitats, making it a paradise for photographers.
For those who prefer building snow sculptures over sandcastles, inspiration abounds. The winter landscape provides plenty of material and opportunities to unleash your creativity. A highlight for visitors is a three-hour tour with a local postal ship, offering insight into daily life and the connection between the islands. A visit to the Hurtigruten Museum in Stokmarknes also takes you on a journey through the history of Norwegian seafaring, from a time when travel was a completely different adventure.
And of course, a visit to a Sami family is a must. Experiencing their culture and traditions up close leaves a lasting impression.
Many of these experiences happen quite spontaneously here. Winter in the north is an invitation to embrace the unexpected and immerse yourself in unforgettable moments.
For external groups, we offer the option to open the restaurant outside regular hours. We serve both lunch and dinner while providing fascinating insights into the development history of our village. From its heyday as a fishing village to its present life – we take you on a journey through time.
By prior arrangement, we also organize lectures about the fascinating northern lights or the historical development of the Vesterålen. What is life like here today? What do we live on, and how is our daily life organized? We’re happy to answer these and many other questions as part of a tailored package.
For our individual overnight guests, we gladly take time in the evenings for personal conversations. In a relaxed setting, we share stories and anecdotes that give you a special glimpse into our life here in the far north.
