A Post boat leaves the port of Myre (20 min driving from Nyksund) twice a day to a 3 hour roundtrip to the small islands along the LangØya-coast. On this trip it is also possible to leave the boat for a hike between the small places Tinden and Skipnes. Here are many possibilities to see parts of the North Norwegian wildlife: eagles, seals, dolphins and so on. A timetable is available at our reception.
In Myre (20 min drive) we have a doll-museum. Let the dolls take you through the times of the last centuries and learn how our political and social understandings were reflected in the design of the dolls.
Our coast is not the best one to for fishing from the shore but it is possible. There are some places in and around Nyksund where you can try your luck. Ask at the reception and we will show you our favorite places. It is possible to rent fishing equipment from us.
You just want to see nature, perhaps have lunch at a nice local place or just walk some meters. Tell us your wishes at our reception and we will prepare a nice side seeing tour over the islands for you.
Oh yes, it is possible to swim in the Norwegian Sea. You just have to know the right places were the water will be little bit warmer. Do you want to have a lot of fun swimming in the ocean? We will present you a map of the best swimming-spots in Vesterålen. Ask at our reception.
Stokmarknes (1.5 h drive) is the place were Richard With founded the Vesterålen Steam-Boat company which we know today as “The coastal steamer” or “Hurtigruten”. Our museum will show you the history of Hurtigrouten in a very impressive way.
